Le motif représenté est inspiré d’une gravure de Camille Flammarion publiée en 1888 dans son livre « L’Atmosphère : météorologie populaire », au chapitre « La forme du ciel » et intitulé « Un missionnaire du Moyen Âge raconte qu’il avait trouvé le point où le ciel et la Terre se touchent ».
