Chaque lundi, l’espace autour du saint Sidi Moussa à Salé (Maroc), devient le théâtre d’un rituel durant lequel les femmes désirant se marier ou avoir des enfants jettent une poule dans l’océan après l´avoir égorgée. A travers son installation pluridisciplinaire, Mohammed Laouli met en relation ce rituel avec le mythe de la caverne de Platon.
Every Monday, in Salé (morocco), the area around Saint sidi Moussa becomes the scene of a ritual during which women wishing to get married or to have children throw a hen in the ocean, after having slaughtered it. Below the cliff, in the seashore caves, men pick up these sacrificed hens to eat them. With his installation composed of different elements, Mohammed Laouli demonstrates the paradox of the scene by relating this ritual practiced by women to the myth of Plato's cave. |
