The exhibition TWO YEARS IN THE CLOUDS presents artistic project by Dorota Buczkowska. It comprises different media / object, video installation, paintings and drawings/ all orchestrated to absorb in an interesting and individual way the emotions experienced in the face of the fundamental threat to life incurred by the immediate contact with untamed nature.
Her work was inspired by the true story of an attempt at flying to the North Pole in a balloon. The expedition was undertaken a hundred years ago by three Swedish explorers. They have never made it; 33 years later, their terminal camp and their bodies were accidentally discovered by seal hunters. By miraculous dispensation, the photographic documentation of 135 black white pictures had been preserved these photos have become Buczkowska’s direct source of inspiration. |
