Rond-points (1995 - …)
Les terres cultivées des rond-points présentent un aspect pervers : interdits d'accès, offerts au seul regard, au regard qui passe et ne doit pas s'arrêter. Ils sont souvent aménagés avec autant de soin que de mauvais goût. Ces tentatives de donner une plus-value esthétique - faire joli - à des espaces avant tout utilitaires - régler la circulation - révèlent un traitement fortement standardisé de la nature dans les villes. Mais les rond-points me fascinent : je balance entre attrait et dérision. La représentation photographique poursuit le même but : l'image est construite pour ?faire joli?, pour paraître belle, pour attirer le regard du spectateur. La dimension critique, l'ironie se révéleront à celui qui s'attarde un peu dans l'image.

Roundabouts (1995 - ...)
There is something perverse about the roundabouts’ cultivated grounds : prohibited access, for the eyes only, for the passing gaze which must not pause. They’re often decorated with as much care as bad taste. These attempts to produce an esthetic surplus value -make pretty- from spaces that are above all functional - control traffic - reveal a heavily standardized treatment of nature in the cities. However, the roundabouts fascinate me: I sway between attraction and derision. The photographic representation follows the same goal: the image is constructed to ?make pretty?, to seem beautiful, to attract the spectator’s gaze. The critical dimension, the irony will reveal themselves to the gaze that lingers a bit longer in the image.
